In the Antietam Campaign:
The Regulars of the 1st and 6th (combined) Infantry were on picket duty atop the bluffs on the east bank of Antietam Creek below the Middle Bridge on the 16th and 17th. They were engaged near Shepherdstown Ford on the Potomac on the 20th.
