Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 15 year old student living on his parent's farm at Sandy Ridge in Henry County, GA. He enlisted as a Private in Company C, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 in Griffin, GA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in the CSA General Hospital in Charlottesville, VA by 23 September and went home on an "irregular furlough from [the] Brigade Surgeon." He was paid in Atlanta on 4 November 1862 with no later military record.
