Giving his age as 19, he enlisted on 9 August 1862 in Scranton and mustered as a Private in Company I, 132nd Pennsylvania Infantry at Harrisburg, PA on 16 August.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

His service from Bates1 and the Card File.2 There is memorial for him on Findagrave, and it's possible he's an "unknown" in the Antietam National Cemetery, but there is no record of that. Thanks to descendant Matt George for his birth details, from family records.
