Before Sharpsburg
A 24 year old married farm laborer living in the Harrisburg District, Jackson County, he had a newborn son in July 1860. He enlisted as Private, Company G, 16th Georgia Infantry on 20 July 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in the right hand, necessitating amputation of finger, and captured in action on 14 September 1862 at Crampton's Gap.
The rest of the War
Paroled at Fort Delaware, DE and sent to Aiken's Landing, VA for exchange 2 October 1862. Captured in Raleigh, NC hospital 30 April 1865.
