Alfred Lawrence Pearson

He was studying the law at start of the War, and was admitted to the bar in January 1862. He enrolled as the original Captain, Company A, 155th Pennsylvania Infantry on 23 August 1862.

He was promoted to Major on 31 December 1862, to Lieutenant Colonel on 1 November 1863, and Colonel on 6 July 1864. He was honored by brevets to Brigadier General (30 September 1864, for the battle of Peebles' Farm, Va) and Major General (1 March 1865, for War service). He was awarded the Medal of Honor (1897) for his actions at Lewis' Farm, VA on 29 March 1865, on the Petersburg Campaign. He mustered out with his Regiment on 2 June 1865.

He practiced law and was elected District Attorney, Allegheny County, PA (1868-) and was a Major General in the National Guard in PA (1870-78). He was later a member of the Board of Managers, national military homes.
