A married 33 year old, he enlisted in Company B, 3rd South Carolina Infantry Battalion on 3 April 1862 at Adams Run, SC. He was assigned duty at the hospital there as nurse, but left camp 20 April 1862.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action on 14 September 1862 at Fox's Gap.
