Before Sharpsburg
He ran away from home to enlist in Company A, 3rd South Carolina Infantry Battalion on 5 December 1861 at Columbia, SC at age 16.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in the scalp, and had an arm broken in action on 14 September 1862 at Fox's Gap.
The rest of the War
He was admitted to the Winder Division hospital, Richmond, VA on 28 September. He was discharged as underage 24 January 1863.
After the War
He moved to Oconee County, SC with his family in 1891.
