Before Sharpsburg
A married 24 year old from the Laurens District, he enlisted in Company D, 3rd South Carolina Infantry Battalion on 2 January 1862 at Columbia, SC.
On the Campaign
He was captured in action at Fox's Gap on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was sent to Fort McHenry, and on to Fortress Monroe, VA, where he was exchanged 10 October 1862. He was furloughed home for 30 days on 11 November. He died at home of disease on 31 December 1863.
