Before Sharpsburg
An unmarried cotton manufactory worker, giving his age as 17, he enlisted in Company F, 3rd South Carolina Infantry Battalion on 30 January 1862 at Columbia, SC.
On the Campaign
He was captured in action at Fox's Gap on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
Held at Fort Delaware, he was sent to Aikens Landing, VA and exchanged on 6 October 1862. He was discharged 4 February 1863 for being underage.
