Francis A. Chadwick

About age 35, with his brother John in the business of selling heaters and ranges in Philadelphia, he enlisted and mustered as First Sergeant, Company K, 19th Pennsylvania Infantry for 3 months' service on 18 May 1861 in Philadelphia. He mustered out with his Company on 29 August and again enrolled, on 3 September 1861 and mustered as First Lieutenant, Company I, 90th Pennsylvania Infantry on 27 September in Philadelphia.

He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

He was promoted to Captain, Company K, to date from 1 August 1862 and discharged 19 November 1863. He was Regimental Quartermaster of the 196th Pennsylvania Infantry for 100 days service from 22 July to 18 November 1864, then First Lieutenant and Quartermaster, 213th Pennsylvania Infantry from 4 March to 18 November 1865.

He lived in McKeesport and Philadelphia, and was active in the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) veteran's group.
