Before Antietam
A 45 year old farmer from Georgetown, he enlisted 26 December 1861 in Company B, 19th Massachusetts Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was slightly wounded in the face in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was again wounded, in action at Frederickburg, VA on 13 December 1862. He transferred to Company B, 24th Regiment, Veteran Reserve Corps on 15 February 1864 and mustered out on 24 December 1864.
