Before Antietam
A 21 year old shoemaker from Natick, he enlisted in Company F, 19th Massachusetts Infantry on 27 July 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in the left shoulder or arm in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was treated at the Hoffman Farm hospital at Sharpsburg, then sent to Washington, DC. He was discharged there for wounds on 13 January 1863.
