Before Antietam
A 27 year old carpenter and ship builder from North Andover, he enlisted as Sergeant in Company F, 19th Massachusetts Infantry, on 25 July 1861.
On the Campaign
He was slightly wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was discharged for disability on 19 April 1864
After the War
"In early life Mr. Hazen was a ship builder, but was obliged to retire from active business, and has been a confirmed invalid for forty-five years [i.e., since about 1870]" He was a member of GAR Charles Beck Post #56 in Cambridge, MA.
