Before Antietam
A 29 year old hairdresser in Boston, he enlisted on 23 August 1861 in Company G, 19th Massachusetts Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He served as regimental baker in early 1863. He reenlisted 20 December 1863, and was captured in action near Petersburg, VA 22 June 1864. He was held at Andersonville, GA and Florence, SC, where he died, date not known, while a prisoner of war.
