Age 25, from White Lake, MI, he enlisted on 9 August 1862, in Ypsilanti, and mustered as Private, Company E, 17th Michigan Infantry on 19 August.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in the hand in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was treated at the Lutheran Church hospital in Frederick, MD but died there of wounds on 8 November 1862.
