Before Sharpsburg
An 18 year old laborer from Huntersville, VA (now WV), he enlisted as Private, Company D, 9th Virginia Infantry Battalion on 1 April 1862. He transferred to Company I, 25th Virginia Infantry on 1 May 1862.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of wounds and disease in a hospital in Staunton, VA on 18 October 1862.
