A farmer in York County, he enlisted as Private in Company D, 6th South Carolina Infantry on 15 July1862 in Columbia, SC.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He returned to duty in March 1863 and was surrendered at Appomattox Court House, VA on 9 April 1865.
After the War
He moved to Arkansas and was a farmer. He applied for a veterans pension there in 1901.
