Before Antietam
A 22 year old machinist in Philadelphia, he enlisted and mustered as Private, Company F, 90th Pennsylvania Infantry on 21 November 1861 in Philadelphia.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in his left foot in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was treated at Camp Curtain near Harrisburg and at a hospital in Reading, from which was listed as a deserter on 28 December 1862.
