Before Antietam
A 24 year old cordwainer (shoe maker), he enlisted and mustered as a Private in Company B, 90th Pennsylvania Infantry on 20 January 1862 in Philadelphia. He transferred to Company I, date not given.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in the armpit in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He transferred to Company D, 11th Pennsylvania Infantry on 26 November 1864 and was discharged on 15 January 1865 at the end of his term of service.
