Before Antietam

A 17 year old farmer in East Providence, Bradford County, he enlisted in Philadelphia on 15 September 1861 and mustered into service as Private, Company H, 107th Pennsylvania Infantry on 9 January 1862 in Harrisburg.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by gunshot to the thigh in action near Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 18 September and transferred to Washington, DC on 28 September. He was discharged on a Surgeon's Certificate on 13 February 1863.

After the War

He was a farmer in Bradford County and served as School Director, Auditor, and Justice of the Peace. He died at age 78 while working in his garden.
