A 19 year old farm worker in Fair Play, Pickens District, he enlisted as a Private in Company H, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 1 July 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on Maryland Heights near Harpers Ferry on 13 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in a hospital in Richmond in September 1864 with no further military record.

After the War

In 1870 he was farmer in Fork Township, Anderson County, SC. By 1880 he was in Grayson County, TX. He farmed there near the town of Tom Bean to at least 1900.
