He enlisted as Private, Company H, 22nd South Carolina Infantry on 25 January 1862.
On the Campaign
He was slightly wounded in the leg in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was captured on 30 July 1864 near Petersburg, VA and held in the Federal prison in Elmira, NY. He died there of disease on 4 March 1865.
