Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 24 year old stone mason at Strasburg in Shenandoah County, VA. He enlisted as a Private in Company B, 33rd Virginia Infantry on 18 June 1861 at Tom's Brook, VA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was absent, recovering, through at least August 1863, returned to duty by October, but was listed as a deserter after 15 November 1863.

After the War

By 1870 and to at least 1900 he was a stone mason in Shenandoah County, VA.
