He enlisted as a Private in Company H, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 in Griffin, GA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the neck and back in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in a hospital in Winchester, VA by 2 October 1862. He was detailed on conscript and recruiting duty at Macon, GA in August 1863. In November 1864 he was in a hospital in Macon with "paralysis of left arm from [gun shot wound] and was in hospitals for wounds to at least February 1865, the latest record in his military file.
