Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 22 year old farmer at Rocky Mount in Meriwether County, GA. He enlisted as a Private in Company F, 13th Georgia Infantry on 16 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 by a gunshots to his left eye and skull, and to his left armpit, paralyzing one hand.

The rest of the War

He was discharged for disability on 2 November 1863.

After the War

By 1870 he had a small farm at Chestnut Creek in Baker County, AL and in 1880 he was a farm worker in Lincoln Parish, LA. By 1900 and to at least 1910 he farmed in Rusk County, TX. He died of Bright's Disease at age 74 in 1911.

He married Sarah F. Argrove (1836-1866) in January 1858 and they had two sons. He married again, Mary Ann Willis (1848-1933) in September 1865 and they had 8 children.
