He enlisted as a Private in Company B, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 in Griffin, GA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was on wounded furlough from 8 October 1862 to 6 January 1863. He was appointed 2nd Corporal on 2 May 1864 and wounded and captured at Winchester, VA on 19 September 1864. He was a prisoner at Point Lookout, MD until transferred to Aiken's Landing, VA for exchange on 15 March 1865.

His service from his Compiled Service Records,1 online from fold3, and from Henderson.2 His gravesite is on Findagrave; Mrs Thomas Spencer of the Agnes Lee Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy in Decatur, GA obtained a government marker for his grave in May 1960.
