Before Sharpsburg
He enlisted on 20 May 1861 as a Private in Company F, First Virginia Artillery - the Williamsburg Light Artillery. He was promoted to 3rd Corporal on 10 May 1862.
On the Campaign
He was captured at Sharpsburg or nearby in September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was paroled on 27 September 1862 and requested not to be returned or exchanged; he was release and "permitted to proceed to and remain in any of the loyal States." There is no later military record.
