Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 24 year old farmer at Warrenton in Warren County, GA. He enlisted there on 4 March 1862 and mustered as a Private in Company B, 48th Georgia Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was slightly wounded in the leg in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in a Richmond, VA hospital by 2 October. He was on furlough in the Summer of 1863 and back in a Richmond hospital in October and November. He was detailed as a sutler on 18 September 1864 due to disability for field service, and was surrendered and paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 9 April 1865.

After the War

By 1870 and to at least 1880 he was a farmer in Warren County, GA.
