Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 24 year old farmer at Warrenton in Warren County, GA. He enlisted in Columbia County on 4 March 1862 and mustered on 6 May as a Private in Company K, 48th Georgia Infantry.

On the Campaign

He was severely wounded in the wrist at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

His arm was amputated and he was furloughed home on 12 October 1862, and never returned to his company. He was finally discharged for disability on 1 April 1864.

After the War

In 1870 he was again a farmer in Warrenton, GA but by 1880 and to at least 1900 he farmed at Mt. Auburn in McDuffie County, GA.
