Before Antietam
A 23 year old laborer in Huntingdon County, he enlisted in Harrisburg on 30 August 1861, and mustered as Private, Company D, 49th Pennsylvania Infantry on 31 October at Camp Griffin, VA.
On the Campaign
He died of disease in Hagerstown, MD on 17 October 1862.
After the War
He was reinterred from his original burial in Hagerstown, MD to the National Cemetery in about 1867.
