Before Antietam
A 20 year old forgeman in Nittany, PA, he enlisted in Clinton County on 20 September 1861 and mustered into service as Private, Company E, 93rd Pennsylvania Infantry on 26 October 1861 in Lebanon, PA.
On the Campaign
He died of diarrhea at Downsville, MD on 28 September 1862.
After the War
He was originally buried in Hagerstown but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
