He was living in Indian Springs, Butts County, GA and listed at 40 years old in the 1860 Federal Census. He enlisted as Private in Company D, 6th Georgia Infantry on 27 May 1861.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in the left hip and captured in action on the Maryland Campaign.
The rest of the War
He was admitted to US Army General Hospital #5 in Frederick, MD on 4 October but died of his wounds there on 9 October 1862. He was originally buried "along the west side and in [Mt. Olivet] cemetery at Frederick [Maryland]". Probably reinterred at Hagerstown in about 1874.
