Thomas Jefferson Page, Jr.

He enrolled as 2nd Lieutenant, Provisional Army of Virginia on 23 May 1861, and was Acting Ordnance Officer and ADC to General Magruder by September. The "Magruder Artillery" was organized in Richmond, VA in March 1862, and Page was promoted to Captain, and commander of the Battery.

He commanded his battery on the Maryland Campaign.

His Battery was disbanded, being far under-strength, on 4 October 1862. He was appointed Major of Artillery on 8 November 1862, and commanded a battalion of Artillery at Kelly's Ford, VA that month. He took an extended leave of absence beginning 27 August 1863 and travelled in Europe. He died in Italy in June 1864.

Details in R.C.M. Page's Genealogy of the Page Family in Virginia (1893), which has his birth on 15 February 1839. His father's maternal grandfather Thomas Nelson, Jr, (1738-1789) was a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and his father (1808-1899) a US Navy Commander (later Confederate Navy Captain).
