Before Antietam
From Harris, he enlisted in Company E, 7th Wisconsin Infantry on 24 June 1861. Promoted to Corporal and Sergeant.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
Captured in action at Haymarket, VA, and died of disease while a prisoner at Andersonville, GA on 7 May 1864.
