Before Antietam
From Plover, he enlisted in Company G, 7th Wisconsin Infantry on 24 August 1861. Promoted to Corporal, Sergeant, and First Sergeant.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
Captured in action at Gettysburg, PA in July 1863. Mortally wounded in action in the Wilderness, VA, and died 8 June 1864 in Washington, DC.
