From Afton, he enlisted in Company K, 7th Wisconsin Infantry on 14 August 1861. Wounded in action at Gainesville, VA in August 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Antietam.
The rest of the War
Captured in action at Haymarket, VA and died of disease while a prisoner in Richmond, VA on 17 February 1864.
