From New Orleans, he enlisted on 4 July 1861 in Company D, 14th Louisiana Infantry. He was a 28 year old laborer, born in Ireland. He was in the gauardhouse in Richmond, VA in May and June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in hospital til May 1863, and was wounded again in action at Chancellorsville, VA on 3 May 1863. He was "confined by civil authority" afterward, and in state prison by May 1864 for a three year term. He took the US loyalty oath in April 1865 and was furnished transportation to New York City on 17 April.
