He was promoted to First Lieutenant on 17 September 1862 (vice Lt Caulfield, KIA).
The rest of the War
Captured in action at Rappahannock Station, VA on 7 November 1863, but escaped from the train on 10 February 1864 enroute to Point Lookout, MD. Captured 20 March 1862 at Curtis Creek near Baltimore, MD. Held at Ft. McHenry. Killed, unknown cause or place, on 19 October 1864.
