Before Antietam
He mustered into service as Corporal, Company E, 106th Pennsylvania Infantry on 28 August 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded by gunshot in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was treated at a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD from 25 to 30 September, when he was sent on to Philadelphia. He was discharged on 13 March 1863 for wounds.
