Before Antietam
A 23 year old teacher, he enlisted in Franklin County on 4 April 1862 and mustered into service as Private, Company F, 107th Pennsylvania Infantry on 5 April in Harrisburg.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of wounds on 2 October 1862 near Sharpsburg, MD.
