Before Antietam

A 21 year old cabinet maker in York, he enlisted there on 20 April 1861 for 3 months' service in Company K of the 2nd Pennsylvania Infantry and mustered out on 24 July. On 26 October 1861 he enlisted again and mustered as Private, Company A, 107th Pennsylvania Infantry on 24 January 1862 in Harrisburg.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of his wounds on 15 (or 19) November 1862.
