He was wounded in the right arm in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at Camp Curtin, Harrisburg, PA. He was captured in action at Weldon Railroad, VA on 19 August 1864 and released on 28 February 1865. He was discharged on 5 March 1865.
