A 35 year old farmer in Gambles Post Office, he enlisted in West Newton on 24 June 1861 and mustered into service as Private, Company F, 12th Pennsylvania Reserves on 10 August in Harrisburg.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was discharged on 16 January 1863 for wounds.
