Before Antietam

In 1860 he was a 22 year old boatman at Beaver Meadows in Carbon County, PA. He enlisted on 9 August 1862 in Carbon County and mustered into service as a Private in Company F, 132nd Pennsylvania Infantry on 15 August in Harrisburg.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of wounds in a field hospital on or near the battlefield on 22 September 1862.
