Before Antietam

In 1860 he was a 16 year old farmer on his grandparent's farm at Kishacoquillas in Mifflin County, PA. He enlisted on 10 May 1861 and mustered into service in Harrisburg as a Private in Company K, 13th Pennsylvania Reserves (First Rifles) on 29 May 1861.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action near Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
