Before Antietam

In 1860 he was a 33 year old laborer in Haycock Township, Bucks County, PA. He enrolled in Easton, PA on 18 June 1861 and mustered into service as a Private (or Corporal) in Company H, 3rd Pennsylvania Reserves on 18 June 1861; He gave his occupation as stage driver. He was appointed First Sergeant of his Company, date not known.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
