A 26 year old laborer in Farmington, he enlisted on 18 September 1861 in Tioga County, and mustered into service as Private, Company H, 45th Pennsylvania Infantry later that month in Harrisburg.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
