Before Antietam
An 18 year old shoemaker in Lancaster County, he enrolled there on 20 September 1861 and mustered into service as Private, Company B, 45th Pennsylvania Infantry on 21 October in Harrisburg.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of wounds on 20 September 1862, probably near Sharpsburg, MD.
