Before Antietam
A 34 year old teacher in Monroeton, he enrolled in Bradford County on 10 August 1861, and mustered as Captain, Company K, 50th Pennsylvania Infantry on 9 September in Harrisburg.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
