Before Antietam
Age 26, he enlisted on 26 October 1861 in Snyder County, and mustered as Private, Company H, 51st Pennsylvania Infantry on 16 November in Harrisburg.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
After the War
He was reinterred from his original burial on the battlefield to the National Cemetery in about 1867.
